Best of March 2007

March was busy, but it went by fast. Memphis can crawl really fast now and he is threatening to walk any day. Whenever I see that look in his eye I make him sit down and remember how much fun it is to just sit around. But really, Cody is convinced that if he tries to stand up he will explode or something. She will do that panicky gasp thing and I'll drop what I'm doing and come running only to find that Memphis has just tried to cruise along the edge of the couch. You know, people have lost eyes doing that.
Carson turned 3 and she makes sure that everyone knows it. "I'm this many" while awkwardly holding up 3 little fingers. She has become very emotional, something I didn't think I would have to deal with much for the next 10 years or so. It gets better not worse, right?
His first biter biscuit. Really more for slobbering than biting.
Straight from the runway...boots with underwear.

Don't worry, there's enough mischief in there to make up for all that sweetness.

Here too...

He finally plays with all his toys. Up until now they were just decoration.

For Pete's sake Cody, he will never learn if you don't let him go.

Tra la la la la la

Ouch! I have no idea how long he was like this.

Do you see the size of that pool?

The climbing has begun. I'm scared. Beep.

Best of February 2007

Whew! One month closer to Summer. Thank goodness because I'm telling you we can't take much more of this crappy weather or the sickness that it brings.

Memphis is officially on the move! He crawled for the first time on Valentine's Day and then waved bye-bye a couple of days later. Of course he saved the latter for his crush (my friend Nicole). She got his first smile too. I swear, if he wasn't so cute I'd be truly offended. He is also now equipped with his first real weapons: two of the cutest little teeth that I've ever seen.

Carson and Cody continue to crack me up with the things that come out of their mouths. Cody was listening to my heart with her "telescope" and assured me that it is still "beeping." And I'm so glad that I have sent her school to learn because she looked at an outline of the United States and told me it was a turkey. A turkey. There's nothing else I can say about that.

Watch out...there's no stopping him now.

Cody's turn to gag.

This is Cinderella holding her dress up. So she doesn't step on it. Because it is so long.

My Valentines

This is Carson's favorite dress. It's too cold to wear it out of the house, but if we're home she's wearing it.

Every diaper bag should have one of these.

I think he's getting too big for my favorite pajamas :(

Working on those teeth

Infectious

I don't know what I would do if all 3 of them had normal faces in any 1 picture. Thank you Carson.

Best of January 2007

January was an especially cold month here. We are used to a week or two of temperatures below about 35 degrees, but it has been over a month now! I mean really, I'm not sure we can take it much longer.

Cody had her 6th birthday at the beginning of the month which makes me feel old. I can't believe I have a 6 year old. On the day of her birthday party, the streets here were the iciest they have been all winter. Poor kid invited four other little girls to her party and only two could make it. Even so, she had a great time and told me it was her best birthday ever. You know, out of 6. She also begged me for a week to take her for a dramatic haircut. I finally succumbed to the pressure and I have to admit, it looks pretty darn cute.

Carson has finally started to go to sleep before 10pm. Before, she would have an afternoon nap and then stay up until I went to bed. Of course, I did my best to keep her in bed. Well, that may be stretching it a bit. Ok, a lot. Alright, alright, it's an outright lie. I would direct her back to the bed, but I didn't really care if she stayed there. I actually enjoyed the company. I know, it's very sad. Anyway, I no longer put her down for a nap and now she is falling asleep much sooner. In fact, sometimes she doesn't get up at all before nodding off. Now if I only cared enough about having my bed to myself to make her sleep in hers...

Memphis is trying really hard to be more efficient in the area of mobility. It's pretty funny. First he gets up on his hands and knees and rocks like a maniac. He then pushes off really hard and reaches his hands forward as if he rocked hard enough that he just might take off. I keep waiting for that to happen. When he finds that all his efforts have only landed him back on his stomach, he begins the army crawl. He uses his arms to drag his motionless lower half across the floor. He's tenacious, I'll give him that. And cute too.

He also sat up for the first time on the 21st, but he doesn't seem to have noticed. He just stares at me with a look that says, "Why are you clapping? I'm always this cute."

Well, the beginning of February brings new hope for warmer weather. Carson will be ecstatic. When she saw the snow on the ground here this morning she told Cody that she would sit by the window and watch her play in it. My sentiment exactly.

The princess on her birthday.

I know, could his outfit be any more mismatched?

Memphis loves to give big, slobbery kisses! So sweet!

Mom, if you don't put the camera away I'm going to gag myself.

See...she really does hate it.

But Cody thinks it's the best thing ever.

We really need a hill.

I have this look too. It means, "Are you kidding me? This is ridiculous!"

Cody hates this picture, but I think it somehow makes all of the snow seem not so cold.

I figured I had better get myself in a picture so that I would have proof to show the kids that I really do love them. Enough to play in the stinkin snow with them.

Best of December 2006

Is it January already? Dang, December went quick. Well, as one friend pointed out (thank you Erica), this is late. In my defense, I was in denial about December, period. Memphis had surgery and Cody was gone for two weeks. Not exactly a month to remember. But there were a couple of funny incidents...

I bought Carson some new underwear online and when it came in she said, "Oh, I actually have panties that fit me! It's a dream come true!" Because before then I was making her wear my underwear and they were huge on her let me tell you.

Memphis can now scoot across the room in less than 5 seconds. Don't be misled into thinking that you can leave him 10 feet away from the teeny tiny barbie shoes for 30 seconds to go pee (even if you really, really have to go) and he won't have had time to not only traverse the mountain range of laundry that is the living room floor, but also to use what poor fine motor skills he has to pick up one of those barbie shoes and...NO!!! "Memphis! Do not put that in your mouth!!" His response?

I took the kids' Christmas portraits, these are the best ones of Cody and Carson individually

And this is the best one of them together (Memphis isn't in these because he was still sleeping. If I had known how he was going to respond to having his Christmas picture taken, I would have just photoshopped him in later...also if I had photoshop.)

Memphis got this really cool toy for Christmas, but he has it confused with his mama.

Baby fresh from the bath, nothing better.

Cody's class has one heck of a room mother (not me) who made all of these little gingerbread houses for the kids to decorate. Cody took it very seriously. Can you say interior design?

Wild Man

This is what I'm going to go do now. Although that chair really gives me a stiff neck.

Happy New Year! My resolution? Take more pictures of course!

PS- I know that some of you will be curious to find out if I got a usable Christmas picture, so here it is. Not great, but given the lack of cooperation I experienced that day, just perfect.

Best of November 2006

I purchased a new camera in November, so there were approximately 46,895 pictures to choose from for this post. Anyway, we had quite a few visitors here this month for Thanksgiving and we really had a good time. I turned 27 a few weeks ago and I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that the countdown to 30 has officially begun. I always thought that people just kind of pretended that it was a big deal because they were supposed to. But, I actually feel a twinge of real panic at the thought of turning 30. Silly? Probably. Rational? Probably not. Well at least when I get old I'll still have all these pictures to remind me of the good old days.
Yes, I tried to talk her out of it.

Apparently they were tired of having their picture taken.

Cousins. Well, my 3 kids and their cousin.

Yes, my thumb is good.

Memphis and me with my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew Hayden.

The girls think Uncle Billy is the most fun ever!

A little girl time

I know there are a few pictures of these two together, but look at those faces!

Cody took this one.

Even Memphis is getting in on the face making fun, oh no.
